Wilson & Hancock are delighted to announce the availability of a new version of the optomap, a unique retinal screening service at its Hastings, Lewes and Tenterden practices.
The optomap allows us to quickly and accurately examine the back of your eyes (the retina) without the need for pupil dilation or anything touching your eyes. It is one of the most significant advances in screening technology and all our patients are advised to have this important examination.
That’s because it enables us to check the health of your eyes more effectively than with traditional equipment. We can see much more of the back of your eyes than before, so helping with the detection of many hidden conditions that could seriously affect your vision.
These include age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes – which may now be diagnosed before you experience any obvious symptoms. The earlier such conditions are detected, the greater the chances of successful treatment.
The optomap also stores digital images of your eyes so that they can be checked and compared at subsequent appointments. This enables us to monitor any changes in your eyes and advise on treatment if necessary.
The optomap retinal examination is suitable for all ages, including children, and only takes a few minutes to carry out.
Available in our Lewes, Hastings and Tenterden Branches.
