At Wilson, Wilson & Hancock, we pride ourselves on using the latest innovations in ophthalmic technology to deliver the best possible service for our patients. That’s why we’ve invested in a state-of-the-art diagnostic OCT scanner, which is now available in our Hastings practice.
Why should YOU book an OCT scan?
An OCT scan does for the eye what an MRI scan does for the brain. It’s the newest and most advanced way of assessing the internal health and condition of the eyes, allowing us to see the earliest and subtlest signs of eye disease that may otherwise be missed by more traditional methods of examination.
The images from an OCT scan enable us to monitor changes in the structure of the retina, which means we’re better able to detect eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease at the outset, allowing for earlier treatment and a better outcome for your eye health and vision.
And because the scan produces a digital image of your eye, the OCT software can automatically compare all future scans with your original scan to look for and alert your Optometrist to any potential change in your eye health.
This type of technology was previously only available in hospitals. It’s now available in your local practice and the scan can be easily incorporated into your regular sight test – you just need to allow an extra 15 minutes per test.
