Optomap

The retina is the only place in the human body where blood vessels can be seen directly.  Detailed analysis of the retina can provide a significant amount of information about a patient’s health, and provide an early indication of eye conditions, as well as other diseases, including stroke, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes.

A normal eye examination generally includes a look at the front of the eye to evaluate health and prescription changes, but a thorough screening of the retina is critical to verify that your eye is healthy.

Optomap ultra-widefield retinal imaging technology enables our Optometrists to capture more than 80% of your retina in one panoramic image.  Taking an Optomap image is fast, painless and comfortable.  Nothing touches your eye at any time, you simply look into the device one eye at a time and you will see a comfortable flash of light to let you know the image of your retina has been taken.

It takes less than a second to capture each image, which are then available immediately for review.

Optomap imaging is available at our Hastings, Lewes and Tenterden branches.  Ask your Optometrist or any of our dispensing opticians for more information.
